What is neck pain?
Neck pain is a common disorder or disease found in the tissues of the neck. There are many causes of neck pain like neck strain, whiplash or a pinched nerve. Neck pain can also come from a virus infection of the throat, which could subsequently lead to swelling of the lymph glands and cause pain.

Our approach to treating neck pain
At our practice, we combine the traditional treatment for pain with the latest technology available for pain relief.
To begin with, we conduct a thorough examination, taking all factors in consideration i.e. where the neck pain is located, the intensity of the pain, as well as the duration and radiation of the pain. Then, once a diagnosis is established, a proper treatment plan will be discussed with the patient, including pain management, physical therapy, rehabilitation and injury prevention.

What is upper body pain?
Upper body pain refers to pain in the upper back, neck and shoulders. This is an incredibly complex area as all these joints work and support each other. Upper body pain can greatly affect normal daily activities. Two commons causes of upper-back and neck pain are usually trauma or muscle imbalances. These conditions don't happen overnight, although the symptoms might present quickly, it does take time to develop into something more painful which will need to be treated. Symptoms to keep an eye out for include any irritation with the movement of the upper body or any stiffness when waking up in the morning.

How is upper body pain treated?
The most common treatment by doctors or general practitioners may be cortisone injections or prescriptions as a short-term quick fix. Once a diagnosis has been established, a chiropractor will instead focus on getting to the root of the problem and establishing a solution to injury prevention.

What is lower body pain?
Lower body pain can be caused by trauma or muscle imbalances. Lower back pain can have a negative effect on your posture, which is known as postural dysfunctions. These dysfunctions are called abnormal alignment of the pelvis and abnormal curvature of the spine, which can cause wear and tear on the joints, muscles or even discs in the lower back. Lower back pain can consist of two categories: acute or chronic. Acute lower body pain is something that has occurred recently, where chronic lower body pain is pain that has been reoccurring for a long time and has just gotten worse with more time that has passed.

How is lower body pain treated?
Most lower body pain treatment methods would be cortisone injections or muscle relaxants to help reduce the pain, which is a short-term method. In comparison, a chiropractor will offer you a variety of treatments. Including spinal mobilization; hot packs, as heat helps relieve pain in the affected area; or even therapeutic exercises which train your lower back muscles to make them stronger and prevent them from getting weaker. A chiropractor will also help you with your posture, which may be making the pain worse without you realising it, together with your diet as the foods you eat can also affect it. A chiropractor will take everything into consideration to make sure that the treatment you are receiving is the correct treatment for your condition.
